My Story

The Coastal 30

On Monday 28 August, Roger and Laura Cooke* plan to walk over 30 miles around the coastline of Belfast Lough, from Jordanstown to Donaghadee. They will be joined along the route by friends and family - it's very much a team event (see below for team members). This is part of 'Walk With Me' - Home for Good's UK-wide summer fundraising campaign.

Moving stories

For children and young people journeying into and through the care system in Northern Ireland, 'moving' is a familiar experience: moving away from known people and places, moving to something different, somewhere new, someone else. The shortage of suitable carers means that many children experience multiple moves, often far away from their local area. Every move takes its toll.

Home for Good works with churches across Northern Ireland to find and sustain more local, family homes for children who need them. We want to inspire more people to step forward and play their part.

Walk with me

Please make a donation and walk with children and young people who are on the move across Northern Ireland.

The Walking Team

Roger and Laura will be joined by other walkers who you can sponsor here too. So far, the walking team includes:

  • Joan D'Arcy (Roger's mum)
  • The Fowles family
  • Rory, Denise & Gideon Wilson
  • John Reid
  • Alistair Aitkin

*Roger is a member of the Home for Good staff team. He and Laura are foster carers in Belfast.
